After passing through the gate welcoming cherry blossoms, the stone pavement leads you to the entrance. Not far from the property, you can find the "Yase Maple Trail", an excursion path next to the Eizan Cable "Yase Station", which is also a recommended hiking course with autumn leaves growing in clusters over a vast area of approx. 3,700sqm. Other notable sites include Shugakuin Imperial Villa (under the jurisdiction of the Imperial Household Agency), a scenic mountain villa built by Emperor Go-Mizunoo in the early Edo period, and Sekizanzenin Temple (a pagoda of Enryakuji Temple) built in 888 which is widely worshiped as a god of protection for warding off evil and the misfortune of unlucky directions. Manshuin Temple (1.6 km), one of the Five Monzeki Temples (served by head priests from the imperial family) of Kyoto with a national treasure "Kifudo", is also known as one of the best places in the city to view the autumn leaves.

The Eizan Electric Railway main line, which leads from Demachiyanagi to Kibune/Kurama and Yase-Hieizanguchi, is a mainstay of the local community, and the "clickety‐clack" of the train provides a tasteful local atmosphere that is full of travelers' emotions.
