As we deal with old antique houses built long time ago,
we find various interesting things in a storage or a warehouse of the houses.
For example, a quality furniture made by a skillful craftsman in the past,
Calligraphy Scrolls or Japanese dolls that have historical value, old-school retro stuffs,
door and window fixtures with antique glasses that can not be produced any more and so on…
This time, we have found this metal box integrated into a wooden cupbord.
This is a built-in refrigerator.
The discrepancy of the materials between the wooden cupboard with beautiful patina
and the stainless refrigerator has a peculiar and interesting atmosphere.
It doesn’t have an electrical function, so probably people used to put ice cubes in the top shelf
and foodstuffs in the bottom shelf to keep them cool.
We are planning to reuse the cupboard in a different way for the renovation of this house.
